MCG designs and conducts formative research and a pilot evaluation of an anti-drug and leadership program for the US Navy.
MCG is currently working on a contract for the US Department of the Navy to evaluate a pilot format of their Drug Education of Youth (DEFY) Program. DEFY has been developed and implemented by the Navy over the last 20 years with the goal of 9-12 year olds leading drug-free and successful lives by receiving long-term healthy life and leadership skills.
A pilot format of the program, designed to reduce attrition and maintain program integrity and efficacy, began in the fall of 2014. MCG researchers, using site visits, individual interviews, and surveys, are evaluating the impact of these proposed changes against the existing program, as well as providing strategic recommendations for program implementation based on the formative research.
